Here’s everything you need to know for a potentially rainy day.
- Game time is 4pm at South Belt 6. As always, please arrive 45 minutes early. As the home team, we will be wearing all-blue, but as always bring your whites just in case we have to switch.
- Our opponent is West Houston Inter Milan. This team played in the same bracket that we did last fall, beating us 4-0 and finishing 2nd in the bracket. In the Spring they moved up to the C bracket, where they struggled, finishing 10th of 12 (but they did better than our opponent from last week, Space City, who finished last). So far this season they’ve only played one game, beating Fusion 01B West 4-0. Interestingly, Space City beat Fusion the first weekend 6-0. In other words, I expect this opponent to be of a similar ability to our opponents last week. We will need to play strong to get a good result, but we know it is within our abilities.
- Rain, rain, go away. The forecast for tomorrow is not good. As you may remember from our first weekend, EDDOA is not the best at relaying information (or even the quickest about making decisions). Also be aware that EDDOA makes their own decisions. The clubs who have their home at South Belt may announce the fields are closed, but that doesn’t have anything to do with EDDOA. Also, keep in mind that games are played in rain–the only concern is safety (ie lightning like we had the first week, or if the field gets flooded which has happened before at South Belt). UNLESS YOU HEAR OTHERWISE ASSUME THE GAME WILL BE PLAYED. Peter, Jeff, and I will be actively searching for information about whether the game is being cancelled, delayed, or anything else. All I can recommend is to pay close attention to your email. There is a rain-out number and website (info here). If you hear anything please email Peter, Jeff, and/or me and we will confirm and announce that info. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
- If the game does get played, I recommend you bring plenty of rain gear and towels and dry clothes for your wet and muddy athlete post-game. He will thank you and your car will, too.
